At Pinky Promise we are building an instant AI-powered digital healthcare app to reliably diagnose and manage women's health. As we provide instant care and improved outcomes, we are making reproductive healthcare accessible to every woman in India.
It has been about two months since we launched the new (complete) Pinky Promise product. Building and launching this app was a make-or-break for us at Pinky Promise. Moments like this are eminent and defining in the journey of every startup where you build something momentous in a very short amount of time. It takes not only meticulous planning, but a very laser focused vision of exactly what needs to be built. Also a very clear alignment between each member of the team and on-par dedication from each.
So what does Pinky Promise do? A woman can come to our app (anytime, 24x7) and describe her symptoms. Our AI asks her questions about her symptoms and medical history and thenI analyzes her symptoms to create a suggested diagnosis and prescription. Immediately, a Pinky Promise Gynecologists reviews this, edits the prescription if required, and sends it to the patient. After this the Doctor and Patient continue to stay connected on chat, powered by a copilot for Doctors. Our patient has a prescription in her hand in minutes and is supported through her care - which is hitherto unprecedented, especially in women’s health.
The first ever Pinky Promise product was Divya Kamerkar pretending to be a chatbot and answering questions about reproductive health on facebook groups. Through this experiment we very quickly realized that just triaging symptoms was not enough, women very much wanted to speak to a Doctor. In January 2023 Pinky Promise launched an MVP with the AI-powered clinic just three basic reproductive healthcare issues (UTI, Vaginal Discharge, and Birth Control Pills), and a very rudimentary, form-based user experience. The technology that we built to power this was what the world popularly called “AI” before the Dark Ages of AI. A probabilistic, bayesian decision making system.
And what do you know - we were overwhelmed by the kind of response we got, proving that we had hit product market fit. We completed 10K consultations and with 70K+ play store downloads we have become the fastest growing Indian women’s health app! More than 85% of our patients reported feeling cured with their treatment and 24.7% came back within just 8 months to consult for other issues. We had created something that women needed and trusted! But along with this validation we also got tremendous amounts of feedback and learning. Over the course of this, our team has spoken to over 50000 women who have tried our product. The learning from this helped define the core features of the product you see today.
It has been a fascinating journey of quick iterations and small experiments. Small low-tech experiments to prove an idea out before building for it is in our DNA. In the next few weeks we will be diving deeper into that feedback, lessons we learned and how we are building technology to solve some of the most pressing problems with Women’s health today. Stay tuned!
